Solenopsis Geminata, also known as the tropical fire ant, is one of the most challenging, but rewarding ant species to keep. They boast a beautiful orange/red colouration, and have a fierce temperament to say the least, they're perhaps one of the most aggressive species we stock. Their venom is potent, and when stung by a swarm can completely immobilise their prey, even if it's many times their size.

Solenopsis Geminata grow at ridiculous speeds, and if kept warm with consistent food they can sky rocket to thousands upon thousands of workers in just over half a year. Solenopsis Geminata is also polymorphic in nature, which means they produce workers of different sizes. Once your colony reaches around the size of a half a test tube, which won't take long at all, they'll begin to even produce soldiers. These soldiers have very characteristic large heads, similar to Pheidole majors!

In the wild Solenopsis Geminata is an invasive species whose range spans over continents. They are formidable fighters and often obliterate entire colonies of other species. Fortunately, due to our climate, they are unable to establish in the United Kingdom. It is, however, still illegal to release them.

Please note that this species is dangerous, its fast growth, sting, and escape-artist tendencies make it irresponsible for us to sell it to the ill-equipped. As such, only 18 year olds, and older, are permitted to purchase this species.
